I personally think that just about everyone has heard about a disease named rabies. For those of you who haven’t rabies is a disease that can in some rare cases cause to the death of the person. However rabies is not considered among the fatal diseases.
What happens in rabies is that the rabies virus starts from the point where it entered and looks for the central nervous system. This finding may take a few months or in some cases might take a few days. But once this virus reaches the central nervous system, there is no way one can be saved from death or we can say that death becomes a sure thing.
Almost 97% of cases recorded of rabies are caused by bite of dogs. That is one the reasons why rabies in most cases is associated with dogs only. However it has been discovered almost recently that bats are also source of rabies. In the United States of America there have been schemes to make sure that dogs are giving proper vaccinations. In other countries of Europe the rate of rabies patient has decreased significantly. It is almost zero.
But in case you had a bite from a dog unfortunately, the very first thing to do is to go to your nearest medical facility and have yourself injected with anti rabies dose. In this way you can ensure that the rabies virus dies right there and then.
In case you ignore this bite, there is a chance that in a month or so you might have nausea, fever or you might feel over lethargic and at the end have some respiratory problem that will lead to your death. So make sure that you get the proper medical treatment.
